Why Breathwork?

Understanding Isn't Always Enough

Understanding Isn't Always Enough 〰️

Understanding isn't always enough…

For years I understood exactly why I felt the way I felt.

I understood my childhood.

I understood my patterns.

I understood where my anxiety, anger and hypervigilance came from.

But understanding wasn't creating change. I wasn't looking for more information.

I was looking for a way to reconnect with myself. That's what breathwork gave me.

Not because it fixed me.

Not because it magically healed everything.

But because it helped me move from understanding my story to actually experiencing it.

Feeling it.

Processing it.

And beginning to heal it.

What Is Breathwork?

When people hear the word breathwork, they often think of breathing exercises designed to reduce stress, improve focus or help them relax.

While those approaches can be incredibly valuable, the style of breathwork I teach and facilitate is different.

At the heart of the work is Conscious Connected Breathwork.

A continuous breathing pattern that helps people reconnect with themselves on a deeper emotional level. Unlike meditation, you're not trying to clear your mind.

Unlike simple breathing exercises, you're not just trying to relax.

Instead, you're using the breath as a tool to explore emotions, experiences and parts of yourself that may have been pushed aside, suppressed or forgotten.

What Is Breathwork
For Emotional Release?

Breathwork for Emotional Release is the approach I have developed through years of facilitating sessions and working with thousands of people.

At its core is Conscious Connected Breathwork.

But the work goes beyond the breathing pattern itself.

It combines:

✓ Conscious Connected Breathing

✓ Reflection & Self-Inquiry

✓ Emotional Expression

✓ Nervous System Awareness

✓ Visualisation

✓ Integration

✓ Community & Connection

For some people, this may involve tears. For others, it may involve laughter, insight, relief, calm or a greater sense of connection to themselves.

And for those who feel called to it, there is also the option to use a scream or vocal release as part of the process.

Because many of us have spent years suppressing our voice, our anger, our grief or our truth.

Why Talking Isn't Always Enough

One of the things I've learnt through my own journey is that understanding something intellectually doesn't always create change.

Most of us already know more than we think we do.

We know our stories.

We know our patterns.

We know where some of our struggles come from.

But healing doesn't happen in the mind alone.

Our bodies carry experiences too.

Stress. Grief. Fear. Shame. Overwhelm.

Breathwork creates an opportunity to reconnect with those experiences in a safe and supported way.

Common Experiences During Breathwork

Every session is different. Every person is different.

But some common experiences include:

Emotional release ~ Greater self-awareness ~ Feelings of calm ~ Physical relaxation ~ Insight and clarity ~ Relief ~ Connection ~ Crying ~ Cramping Hands ~ Feeling Deeply Peaceful.

Some simply leave feeling lighter than when they arrived.

There is no right or wrong experience.

When facilitated appropriately, breathwork can be an incredibly powerful tool.

However, it is important to understand that Conscious Connected Breathwork is not suitable for everyone.

This is why proper facilitator training, trauma awareness and safety protocols matter so much.

At Inner You, we place a strong emphasis on safety, ethics and responsible facilitation.
